From baby elephants to brand-new habitats and big dreams on the horizon, there’s always something exciting happening at your Sedgwick County Zoo! Hear the inside scoop from Scott Newland, President & CEO.
Scott Newland is an experienced Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) professional with 25 years of progressive leadership at the Sedgwick County Zoo. Over the course of his career, he has served as Deputy Director, Curator of Birds, and as a zookeeper in the bird department. His connection to the Zoo began as a teenager when he volunteered through its youth program, sharing his early passion for wildlife.
Newland is an active professional fellow with AZA and has contributed to several committees and advisory groups. He also serves as regional coordinator for multiple AZA Species Survival Plans, including those for Greater and Caribbean Flamingos, the Guam Rail, and the Guam Kingfisher.
