Beyond the Headlines: A Legal Perspective on Immigration

Join us as Sarah Balderas breaks down the basics of immigration law and clears up common myths that often cloud the conversation. She’ll dive into the issues making headlines, highlight gaps in the system, and explain how these challenges have shaped the current state of immigration in our country. Finally, Sarah will explore possible ways the system could be improved—all from a neutral perspective so you can form your own informed opinion.

Sarah Balderas, a Wichita native, graduated from Bishop Carroll High School before earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts from Newman University. She went on to receive her Juris Doctorate from Washburn University School of Law, gaining experience with influential mentors and organizations, including the Honorable Judge Birzer at the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas, Kansas Legal Services, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in Kansas City, and the Washburn Law Clinic in Topeka. Sarah has been practicing law since 2018, and in October 2020, she and her cousin Angela Balderas founded Balderas Legal Group, LLC, where they specialize in immigration law.
