Celebrating Abilities and Empowering People
Since 1953 AbilityPoint, formerly The Arc of Sedgwick County, has focused on supporting and empowering those they serve to help them reach their fullest potential. AbilityPoint serves those with intellectuals and or developmental disabilities which includes down syndrome, autism, fetal alcohol syndrome and cerebral palsy to name a few. Though everyone they serve may have a disability, it is their abilities that AbilityPoint strives to bring out and celebrate.
AbilityPoint has created countless programs and services, many of which touch thousands annually and in some cases have even spun-off to become their own agencies making enormous impacts for this population.
Like so many other visionaries in Wichita’s history the founding families who started AbilityPoint built collaborations and partnerships to make their innovative programming a reality. What they envisioned over 70 years ago continues to evolve and grow to meet the ever-changing needs of our families to day with a focus on the future.
