From Barriers to Breakthroughs: Empowering the Working Poor and Strengthening Wichita’s Workforce

What if the very people we count on to keep our businesses running are the ones facing the greatest barriers to stability — and what if we’re unknowingly reinforcing those barriers? In this talk Daron Babcock draws on powerful lessons from his work at Bonton Farms and the Stand Together Foundation to challenge conventional thinking about poverty, work, and human potential. He’ll share stories and examples — including some from right here in Wichita — that show how new approaches to hiring, benefits, and community partnership can unlock both personal and economic transformation. This is a conversation for leaders ready to build businesses where people and profits thrive together.

Daron Babcock is a visionary leader, social entrepreneur, and founder of Bonton Farms, one of the largest urban farms in the United States, located in the heart of South Dallas.
